This levada walk is perfect for those looking to enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by the island’s lush natural beauty, with the tranquil Ribeiro Bonito as a rewarding midway point. The walk is accessible and enjoyable, offering a gentle adventure into the heart of Madeira’s stunning scenery.

    The walk begins in São Jorge, in the north of Madeira, where the Levada do Rei is easily accessible.

    This trail meanders along a gentle levada, flanked by lush, verdant vegetation and endemic flora. The path is well-maintained, making it suitable for walkers of all skill levels, with few steep or challenging sections.

    The Ribeiro Bonito, a secluded and beautifully pristine area, is the highlight of this walk. This spot offers a tranquil escape into nature, with vibrant greenery and the soothing sounds of flowing water.

    The walk is relatively moderate, covering around 10 kilometers round trip and typically takes about 3h30m to complete.

    The levada maintains a steady altitude throughout, around 500 meters above sea level, providing for easy and comfortable walking conditions.
