The trail begins in the village of Maroços, which is easily accessible by car from Machico, the nearest major town.
This is a relatively easy and enjoyable walk along a levada with minimal elevation gain. The path is well-maintained and offers safe footing, ideal for beginners or those looking for a relaxing hike.
Known as the “Mimosa Valley,” the area is famed for its lush, terraced landscapes and vibrant flowering mimosas (when in season). The path also offers beautiful views over Machico Bay.
