    Overview:

The Queimadas to Caldeirão Verde walk is a mesmerizing trek through one of Madeira’s most beautiful laurel forests, leading to the spectacular Caldeirão Verde lagoon. This path, while scenic, requires caution due to its narrow and sometimes challenging terrain. It’s a popular route for those looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Madeira, offering a rewarding experience with its breathtaking final destination.

The walk begins at the Queimadas Forest Park, a lush, green area equipped with facilities and known for its traditional Madeiran thatched roof shelters.

This trail is a classic levada walk, following the water channel through a dense laurel forest. The path is narrow with some tunnels and steep edges, requiring a headlamp and good footing.

The main attraction is the Caldeirão Verde, a stunning emerald green lagoon surrounded by high cliffs and fed by a beautiful waterfall, creating a truly picturesque and serene environment.

The route is about 13 kilometers round trip, typically taking about 4h30m to complete, including time for rests and enjoying the scenery at the lagoon.

The walk maintains a relatively consistent elevation of around 980 meters, providing cool temperatures and lush vegetation throughout the journey.
